A Rancid Taste
How does it feel when you’re told - it’s ok, they are from the 60’s, they don’t know any better.
They like to keep upto date on business, technology, economy, politics - most current news and views - however for cultural upkeep they are old, too ingrained, from the old times.
You take it in.
When you bring it up, no one lends an ear - Look we had a great time, so let it go.
How does it feel to feel unsafe walking down a street full of men?
You know you can’t protect yourself
You build tactics like calling someone to create an invisible shield around you
The fear behind the facade doesn’t leave you for a long time.
The frustration of feeling that fear isn’t easy to shed off.
How does it feel when women say, we don’t know why women are unhappy
In our times we faced worse things - more inappropriate comments, worse infrastructure.
When you’re not ready to suck it up anymore,
The ever so subtle biases at workplaces.
But don’t over think it - it won’t help.
How does it feel when the Millennials say - there is no point in making a point
Because it will never change things. It could affect me if I bring it up.
You feel alone. That’s how you feel.
You feel sad. That’s how you feel.
You feel like summoning up more courage for yourself. That’s how you feel.
You feel someone’s got to level up. That’s how you feel.
That’s how I feel.
